Care and Safety of Our Roads

Route 1 Water Breaks

In the last ten years Saugus has borrowed approximately $900,000 a year from a no-interest loan program with the Massachusetts Water Reserve Authority, replacing approximately 20 miles of water main services over the past ten years.  However, over a 100 more miles still needs to be replaced.

Meanwhile, water breaks are costing Saugus taxpayer dollars and creating major traffic jams along Route 1.

Route 1 is a state highway and should be funded like one.  When elected I will fight to make the State pay or at least reimburse Saugus the cost of replacing pipes beneath Route 1.

LYNNFIELD STREET AND WALNUT STREET

Lynnfield St. is considered one of the most dangerous roads in Massachusetts. The intersection of Walnut St. and Route 1 is considered one of the most dangerous intersections in Massachusetts.

Intersections and roads like these are the responsibility of the State as it affects commuters from across the Commonwealth and the State should invest in projects that increase the safety of these roads.

However the State has repeatedly dropped projects that would increase the safety of these intersections.   This is unacceptable, if elected I will fight to ensure the safety of our neighbors come first.
