Anthony Guardia announces Wakefield Supporters, Refutes Falzone’s List

Anthony Guardia, candidate for State Representative in the 9th Essex District, today announced his list of supporters in the town of Wakefield for the upcoming election. This follows a press release by incumbent Mark Falzone of his Wakefield supporters, many of whom have decided to switch their support since Guardia announced his candidacy in February.

Guardia has the endorsements of the majority of the Board of Selectmen, Municipal Gas & Light Commissioners, Planning Board, and School Committee, the unanimous endorsement of the Board of Health, and many other elected officials.

“I’m humbled by this support in Wakefield,” said Guardia. “These are people I have worked with and built strong personal and professional relationships with during my time on the School Committee. They know how much I care for Wakefield and my commitment to solving the problems we face together.”

Upon contacting the Wakefield officials, Guardia found that many were upset with their inclusion on Falzone’s list, stating their commitment to the long time incumbent Falzone came well before Guardia announced his candidacy. "I would hope that Mark would not deliberately mislead the public and list my supporters as his own to gain a political advantage,” said Guardia. “It is that type of misinformation that causes many individuals to not participate in government.”

When asked to respond to the overlap between the two lists, Guardia added, “I think people in Wakefield recognize when misleading press releases during election years are used in place of true constituent service and accessibility. As your representative I’ll be actively engaged in local issues every day. I will fight for our most pressing needs on Beacon Hill. I won't sit back as neighboring towns build new schools while we watch ours deteriorate, I won’t sit back as our neighboring communities receive more local aid and I won’t sit back while so many of our friends and neighbors are struggling in this economy.”

“The most important endorsement I have received is from the voters of Wakefield, who I have met going door to door and who have supported me in my previous campaigns in Wakefield,” Guardia added. “I am confident that I will receive their support again on election day.”
