Guardia Announces Second Round of Visits to Voters
Nearly every day since announcing his candidacy for the 9th Essex district State Representative seat, Anthony Guardia has visited voters in their homes, hoping to hear their concerns and share his ideas for the future of the district. He's listened to residents' worries about school conditions, local aid inequality and traffic problems. He's heard voters talk about lack of access to Beacon Hill legislators and unanswered calls to legislative offices. He has listened to all the people who took time to talk with him, and followed up when he has discovered answers to their questions.
Guardia started visiting voters in the freezing February winter and just recently wrapped up during the hot, humid June summer. During his journey, some voters often game him meatballs, cookies, and pastries and, in some cases, even invited into their homes for tea, coffee, and water. Guardia wore holes into his shoes and lost ten pounds while visiting more than 12,000 houses throughout Wakefield, Saugus, Lynnfield and Lynn.
And now, he's starting all over again.
Last week Guardia announced he will be making a second trip around the district. He hopes to speak with all voters, especially those who were not home on his last visit. However, no one needs to wait until Anthony comes to their house. He can be reached through his website at anthonyguardia.com, email at ag@anthonyguardia.com, or be followed on Facebook and Twitter.
“My goal is to really get to learn the most pressing concerns for people in our district,” said Guardia. “So far, they seem to be the problems that I’ve been talking about since the beginning. I’m out there every day because that’s what being a representative is all about. You can’t speak for the people of your district unless you’re involved in their communities and actually listening to what they have to say.”
Guardia purchased new thick-soled shoes and smaller waist pants for this next round of neighborhood visits. He is not sure which homes he'll revisit first, but the people with those delicious meatballs may see him really soon.
